Studio Ghibli’sOscar-winning Spirited Away, created by legendary animator and director Hayao Miyazaki is re-imagined for the stage by Olivier and Tony award-winning director of Les Misérables, John Caird.
The original Japanese cast* perform this extraordinary production with wildly imaginative puppets, dazzling set and costume designs and a live orchestra playing the magnificent original film score by Joe Hisaishi.
A masterpiece of storytelling and stunning visuals Spirited Away tells the enchanting tale of Chihiro who while traveling to a new home with her family, stumbles into a world of fantastic spirits ruled over by the sorceress Yubaba.
When her parents are turned into pigs and she is put to work in a magical bathhouse, Chihiro must use her wits to survive in this strange new place, find a way to free her parents, and return to the normal world.
Audiences in the UK now have the chance to be spirited away and delight in the mystery of this genre-defining animation classic at the West End’s iconic London Coliseum for a strictly limited season.

Can I bring my child to Spirited Away?
Our age guidance for Spirited Away is 7+. Children under 5 years old are not allowed in the auditorium for any Spirited Away performances.
Will my favourite performer be in the show?
The producers cannot guarantee the appearance of a particular cast member and no refunds or exchanges will be offered as a result of a cast member’s unavailability to perform at any performance. However, you can view the cast schedule online.
Can I take pictures of the show?
No.
No photography can take place during the show. Any large camera equipment must be left in our cloakroom as it cannot be taken into the auditorium.
Can I bring food and drinks into the theatre?
We do not allow any hot food or alcohol purchased from outside the London Coliseum to be brought into the building and due to licensing any alcohol will be confiscated.
We have water stations across all main levels of our theatre so please do refill any resuable bottles you have.
There are bars on each level of the theatre. These open 75 minutes before each performance.
We also encourage you to pre-order your interval drinks online.
We have 3 delightful dining options for Spirited Away.
- Japanese Feast – authentic Japanese dishes in an exclusive area prior to evening performances;
- Japanese Afternoon Tea prior to matinee performances;
- Bento Bar from Tanpopo.
All 3 of these options do need to be pre-booked at least 72 hours in advance of the performance that you are attending.
Can I buy a programme or merchandise at the theatre?
Yes.
You can purchase programmes and merchandise on all levels of the theatre as well as the shop on the ground floor.
